Alors que les premières Radeon HD 4850 arrivées sur le marché reprenaient pour la plupart le design de référence d’AMD, les constructeurs commencent à se lâcher et à proposer des modèles un peu plus originaux. Ainsi, après la Radeon 4850 Toxic « zalmanisée » de Sapphire, c’est au tour de PowerColor de dévoiler une Radeon HD 4850 qui, même si elle utilise toujours un PCB de référence, apporte une petite touche d’originalité.

 

On remarque bien entendu le système de refroidissement ZeroTherm entièrement cuivre, qui permet au passage à cette carte d’afficher des fréquences sensiblement plus élevées que les 4850 classiques. Le GPU est ainsi cadencé à 650 MHz (625 MHz pour les modèles classiques) alors que les 2Go de mémoire GDDR3 – autre originalité - tournent à 2000 MHz (soit 14 petits mégahertz de gagnés). Le prix et la date de disponibilité de ce modèle ne sont hélas pas encore connus. Reste également à voir l’utilité d’une telle quantité de mémoire.
